COLUMBUS, Ohio — Domenika Turkovic had been knocking on the door all season. On Sunday in Columbus, she walked through it.

The Croatian star, top seed in the draw, defeated Jessica Evanier 11-8, 11-7 to win the women's pro singles title at the 2026 APP Columbus Open Presented by The James. It is the first APP Tour gold medal of her career, and it came just two weeks after she settled for silver in Overland Park.

She had to earn it. Turkovic erased an early deficit in the first game and pulled away late in the second against the No. 3 seed, who was playing her first Championship Sunday since 2023.

"It takes a lot of positive self talk, trying to stay in there and moving my body," Turkovic said. "If I can just focus on my body and getting through the ball, everything else becomes so much easier."

She nearly left Pickle & Chill with two golds. In the women's doubles final, Turkovic and Glauka Carvajal-Lane lost a tight first game 11-9, stormed to an 8-0 lead in the second and won it 11-2, and then fell 11-7 in the decider to Shelby Bates and Christine Maddox. One gold and one silver made it the best weekend of her APP season.

Munro's double, and six in a row
Jack Munro was the man of the weekend. He and Richard Livornese Jr. beat Jay Devilliers and Tanner Tomassi 11-7, 11-7 for their sixth consecutive men's pro doubles title, and they did it without dropping a single game in the entire bracket.

"There were definitely some nerves," Livornese Jr. said. "We played calm, played our game. They played some great points and got up in that second game, but we did our thing."

Munro then returned to the court with Jill Braverman and won the mixed doubles final 11-6, 11-6 over Megan Fudge and Aidan Schenk, their second gold together this year.

"Jill was one of the first people that believed in me back when I was a 5.0 player," Munro said. "I'll never forget that. From one of my mentors to now my teammate, she's been amazing."

For Braverman, the timing was perfect. "It's the best birthday gift ever," she said. "My birthday was on Friday."

The result means Fudge remains tied with Simone Jardim at 33 career gold medals. The record will have to wait.

Dussault gets the one he was missing
Tristan Dussault, the 18-year-old from Orlando and a member of the APP U.S. National Team, won his first career men's pro singles title. He dropped the opening game to No. 2 seed Dusty Boyer 11-9, jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the second and won it 11-7, and then closed out the third 11-4.

"Dusty's a great player and a great friend of mine, so it was fun to battle with him," Dussault said. "I had to keep my foot on the pedal and not let him get any breathing room, because he was ripping the ball and it was tough."

It is his second gold in two tournaments, after winning mixed doubles in Overland Park.

Bates and Maddox dig in
The women's doubles final was the closest match of the day. Bates and Maddox, the No. 2 seeds, were clinging to a 7-6 lead in the third game before closing it out for their second title in three events.

"Christine and I really had to dig in," Bates said. "Every half a game we had to switch our game plan, because they were switching it up and making it challenging for us."

More from Columbus
Championship Sunday opened with an in-state rivalry, as Ohio State's club team defeated Ohio University in a collegiate showcase.

In the AARP Champions (50+) division, Marcello Jardim won two gold medals, in men's doubles with Jaime Oncins and in mixed doubles with Lee Whitwell. Carolina Lopez Ascarate and Andrea Olson took the women's doubles title, and Youssef Bouzidi and Karin Ptaszek-Kochis won the singles crowns.
