Major League Pickleball and Dallas Flash confirmed it: Danni-Elle Townsend is the 2026 regular season Most Improved Player in the MLP.
The announcement comes at the perfect moment. Just this week, with Townsend leading Dallas Flash as hosts in Round 1 of the playoffs against Las Vegas Night Owls, and riding an 11-match winning streak that was already speaking for itself long before the league made it official. Fan voting, open throughout July, closed on the 31st with Townsend as the category's clear winner.

From Columbus To Dallas: A Season Of Constant Growth
Townsend's 2026 story is, in short, a nonstop climb. Selected No. 3 overall in the 2026 Draft by Columbus Sliders — the defending champions at the time — the Australian arrived in the MLP under enormous pressure: justify a high investment in her first year in the league. She didn't just justify it — she exceeded it.
In her first three events with Columbus, she helped the team secure second, third, and second place finishes, playing women's doubles with three different partners along the way — proof of an adaptability few new players manage to pull off that fast. Before the MLP, Townsend was already one of the most decorated players on the Asia/Australia circuit, with an impressive collection of gold medals in singles and mixed doubles.
But the real turning point came in May, when Dallas Flash finalized her trade. Alongside Alix Truong, Townsend didn't just join the team — she transformed it. Since then, Dallas has been one of the most consistent stories of the second half of the season, arriving at these playoffs with a streak most teams in the league would love to have.
