Staksrud and Fahey Shine at the PPA Sacramento Open

The Carvana PPA Tour stopped in California this past weekend for the Fasenra Sacramento Open presented by Zimmer Biomet, held at Life Time Arden in Sacramento. The tournament delivered high-level matches and several compelling storylines, but two players stood above the rest: Federico Staksrud and Kate Fahey, who captured the singles titles with commanding performances.

Staksrud dominates the men’s singles draw

Argentine star Federico Staksrud once again demonstrated why he is considered one of the most dangerous players in professional pickleball singles.

In the men’s singles final, Staksrud defeated Zane Ford with authority 11-4, 11-2, controlling the pace from the opening rallies and never allowing Ford to find his rhythm.

With aggressive baseline play, sharp angles and consistent pressure, Staksrud dictated the match and closed the final in convincing fashion, reinforcing his status as one of the top singles competitors on the PPA Tour.

One of the most talked-about moments of the tournament occurred earlier in the draw when Hunter Johnson was disqualified during the quarterfinals. After tossing his paddle toward his bag following a point, it accidentally struck a spectator, resulting in an immediate forfeit and allowing Ford to advance to the semifinals.

Kate Fahey dominates the women’s final

On the women’s side, Kate Fahey delivered one of the most commanding performances of the weekend.

In the women’s singles final, Fahey defeated Kaitlyn Christian 11-3, 11-0, controlling the match from start to finish with precise shot placement and relentless pressure.

Other notable results from Sacramento

The men’s doubles title went to Ben Johns and Gabe Tardio, who defeated JW Johnson and CJ Klinger 11-8, 7-11, 11-6, 11-2, continuing their impressive run as one of the strongest partnerships on the 2026 tour.

In women’s doubles, Parris Todd and Rachel Rohrabacher defeated Jorja Johnson and Tyra Black 11-5, 6-11, 11-4, 11-6. During the match, Tyra Black required medical attention due to a hamstring issue, prompting a medical timeout before play resumed.

The mixed doubles title went to Tyra Black and Eric Oncins, who defeated Jorja Johnson and JW Johnson 11-7, 6-11, 3-11, 11-8, 11-8. The victory marked Eric Oncins’ first career title on the PPA Tour.

Sacramento highlights two standout performances

The PPA Sacramento Open once again showcased the depth and intensity of professional pickleball, but the tournament ultimately highlighted two dominant individual performances: Federico Staksrud in men’s singles and Kate Fahey in women’s singles, both delivering convincing victories to claim the titles.
